The lint trap catches a fraction of what comes off a load. The rest travels into the duct behind the dryer and settles wherever the run bends. In a two story house that run can be twenty feet or more with two or three elbows, and every one of those elbows collects.
Clogged vents are the reason a load takes three cycles to dry. They are also the reason dryers overheat. We clear the full run from the appliance to the exterior termination, check that the flap opens properly, and confirm airflow at the outside vent rather than assuming it.
If the run itself is the problem, crushed behind the dryer, sagging in the attic, or terminating into a soffit where it should not, we will show you and tell you what it takes to fix. Often it is a short job.
Most people have this done alongside a duct cleaning, and it is worth timing it that way. On its own it is $179 plus tax. Added to a duct cleaning it is $100 plus tax, because the trip is already made and the equipment is already out of the van.

- Clothes still damp after a full cycle, a dryer that is hot to the touch on the outside, a laundry room that gets humid while the dryer runs, or a burning smell. Any one of those is worth a look. Two or more and you should not keep running it.
- How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
- Once a year for most households. More often if you have a long run, a large family, or you dry pet bedding regularly.
- Do you clean vents that exit through the roof?
- Yes. Roof terminations are the ones most often skipped and most often blocked, because they are the hardest to reach and birds like them. We clear the full run and confirm flow at the termination.
